Ocean Breeze

Solid experience - and I mean that literally. We were on the edges of hurricane Hanna for our stay, so we had some strong winds and serious rain. I've definitely been in beach houses where that would have been a nerve wracking experience, but this one held up great! :) When it wasn't raining, it's directly on the beach. There were plenty of dishes, towels, etc. There were some glass knick knacks and a very tight stairway that were a bit tricky for kids/toddlers. But the patio is very nicely enclosed with tight railing, such that the kids could hang out there and have a snack without parents having to worry. As to everyone involved with the property - all the stars I can give. The rental coordinator was extremely friendly and INCREDIBLY accommodating as we tried to sort out vacation plans coordinating with families and coping with COVID. The cleaning crew came by in the morning to find us still in the driveway with a dead battery, they went out of their way to help us find jumper cables, and help get us started and on the road. In all, this is a very nice house, with a very thoughtful group of people helping to ensure you have a nice trip. I recommend it highly if you're looking for a place for a beach stay!

Great location for famalies with young kids

Disappointing!! The air conditioning would not cool. The dryer would not dry, the refrigerator would not cool properly, and the ice maker was broken. Countless areas that just need a LOT of TLC and certainly would not pass a basic inspection. Emailed the Vacation manager and the only thing they addressed was the a/c. Repairman came did his best, but a/c never really cooled down. Garage door was rusted halfway open.

Literally ON THE BEACH. Step straight onto the sand (no cars allowed!). Ten of us , ages 7 -94, had a great vacation in this house “on the beach”. We plan to return 7/2023! Easy check in and out. Good customer service experience. . PS Hope the dryer is replaced.

The beach was very close but the grass was tall around the house and we were bit by small bugs while trying to walk through the grass. We had a couple of days of rain, water came under the back door and through the window seals in 2 bedrooms. We had our canopy stolen and the security lights taped over. (Police were notified) The door knob on the back door did not work, maintenance had to come fix it.

Family reunion

The house was all that we expected and then some, the property was very clean and the house was all that we imagined and then some. Had a great week and highly recommend this property to anyone. Literally step off the porch and you are in the sand of the beach....

Some maintenance and housekeeping issues, but the location, number of bedrooms and bathrooms were worth every penny! Great balcony overlooking the beach and ocean. Dolphins and fishermen! Great people watching on the beach. We built an enormous sand alligator to got a lot of attention. It was a great vacation. Located about 10 miles south of city of Galveston, so the area is quiet with few beach goers.

The home is everything that it says it is. Beautiful, large, plenty of room for my large family and pugs. Close to the beach. We will be vacationing here again. Only thing I wish was more clear was the location of pool.

Location is great! Right on the beach, just a short walk to sand and shore. Bedrooms were a decent size, and having 5 bedrooms, 3 baths helped everyone to spread out at night and get cleaned up faster. The house is well furnished and decor is nicely done. The kitchen is a little sparse but we made do. The grill was unusable, so we had to cook the steaks we brought in the oven. The fridge is warm upon arrival- thankfully we bought ice and were able to cool it down before our food spoiled. The house was clean overall but it had a mildewy smell upon arrival and the air vents showed black mold. The house is older and the floor is warped in places and the deck needs some attention. The dryer was broken so I was unable to dry our towels before our trip home. We had a decent stay but for the cost, this house needs a little more attention and we will be looking elsewhere to stay next time.

If you love the beach, (the shore for you others), than this is the place for you. The home could use some TLC but with 5 bedrooms there is plenty of room and the kids will love it. The outside balcony has great views too!

Very very nice and comfy

The house was very clean and perfectly located. The communication with the management company couldn't have been better. We had a great time and would likely stay here again. It would have been nice to have a light outside the front door for safety going up and down the stairs at night. The outdoor shower was fantastic but a hose would have been nice to spray off all the sand that you stepped in when you stepped out of the shower. Be sure to bring hangers and hand towels for the kitchen as there aren't any to be had. Three of the rooms don't have dressers. In spite of the little things, overall it's a good house. The AC works great. The dryer took 4 hours to dry a load.

This was a perfect place for our extended family gathering. Lots of space and everything we needed for 4 adults and 5 children. Great location and wonderful balconies.

Management was very responsive. Home is a great location right on the water and the grocery delivery worth every penny! It rained while we were there but we will definitely go back!

Great home, with plenty of room for family and friends. Rooms situated so each one has some privacy. House was clean and located on a great private stretch of beach. Only complaint is that phone service is spotty out there, and the wifi didn’t work. The property manager tried very hard to get it fixed for us, but nothing worked.

Amazing location on the beach and far enough away from the touristy part of town. There are a few repairs (non-working windows) that need to be made but overall the house is priced right for accommodating our large family of four adults and five teens. The management was quick to respond to us when we noticed that there was no coffee carafe for the coffee maker but never followed through with the promise of a new one to be delivered the next morning. The house does have a Keurig so bring your own pods:-) Overall we were very happy with our stay.

Great location! The house was clean and spacious and the beach was not very crowded. Several of the beds were not very comfortable. The owner/manager was very nice and easy to contact. We would consider staying here again.

This is a nice home that is right on a quiet stretch of beach in Galveston. We found a clean home that is well maintained. It is not brand new, so nitpickers could find some issues, but we had none which really affected our vacation. The beds are good, the showers have hot water, the wash machine works, and the beach is right there.

Wonderful! What was lacking in the house was compensated by the location!
The kitchen was very poorly furnished. Needs more cooking pots. Trash can needs to be replaced! Coffee pot was terrible. Dryer was on its last leg. Bedrooms need bedside lamps. Location was awesome!!! In spite of my complaints we had an awesome week!!! We plan on using house next summer!!!

Overall this house is great for a family vacation. It does take a drive to go to the good restaurants but was manageable. The refrigerator smelled like seafood and the icemaker did not work. There could be more seating in the living room due to the size of family. We managed though because we stayed on the beach most of the time. There were repairs being made but not finished and we did not have a place for trash. The trash was full at the street when we got there. It was warm due to the air conditioning. Bring a fan. We had a great time as a family and loved the closeness to the beach. Also the evenings on the deck listening to the ocean sounds.

Family from Florida and Texas came together for some special time together. The size of the house was great and the location was perfect! The house was clean and the management company (Kaitlin and Sandy) were very helpful. I called them 3 or 4 times before we went with questions about the property and they were both very helpful and friendly. I really appreciated that. I think the only complaint was the beds. They were not comfortable and most were very squeaky! We did have a wonderful time and would use this property again.

This house is a winner for being in the perfect beach spot. Kids could play on the beach while grandparents weren't too far away on the balcony. There were definitely some things that needed some TLC, and some questionable mold in the bathroom, but otherwise a beautiful place to stay.

It was a wonderful way to have a family gathering with three little children and seven adults. Being so close to the beach made our stay terrific because walking on the beach, swimming and seating on the balcony were always an option for any one.

Location was perfect, close to beach.
A few items needed fixing or replacing:
No blinds on window facing east to block out morning sun.
Trash bin in kitchen with flip top didn't work.
Frame on bed in bunk room caused bloody shins.
Ice maker in frig didn't work.
Otherwise house handled 8 kids under 10 and 6 adults well.
We would return to this house if we choose Galveston as our vacation.

While there were a handful of problems, our stay was overall wonderful! We arrived a little early at 1:30, and although check-in wasn't until 3:00, we went in to peek at the house before heading to the beach to wait until 3pm. The house was dirty, so I called the management company just to let them know that the house had not been cleaned since the previous guests. They said the crew was on the way and not to worry. I expressed concern that such a large home couldn't be cleaned in just an hour. As expected, they did not finish until 4:45, almost 2 hours after we were supposed to have access to the home. We had 8 people waiting in the heat, and had to change our dinner plans. Once inside the home, we were all impressed by the cute beachy decor. The blinds in the downstairs bedroom were hanging off the window, the tvs didnt work in the bedrooms, and the only bathroom with a tub had no drain stopper. I called the company and they send a handy man the next day, who fixed the blinds, couldnt get the tvs working, and told us to use plastic to fill the tub. The location right on the beach was wonderful, and we ended up loving the beach house, even with the frustrations of the management company. I would rent the house agian- just don't plan on any late-night tv watching!

We had a great time. The home was in a prime location- we loved being steps away from the beach. The description was accurate, the home had everything we were expecting and more. We enjoyed the extra chairs and beach toys that were there. The property was clean and well-maintained. The blender did not work, we were fine without it. We were cautioned about rattlesnakes in the area between the house and beach, and would have liked for the grassy area right around the steps at the house to have been cut shorter and not growing over the sides. We did not see any snakes, but the house next to us did, and we were a little bothered by that- not that it is the owners issue or that it could be helped. We know the dunes and grassy area serve a purpose, it was just a concern we had with small children. We would have been concerned about this at any beachfront home. The view from the house and deck were amazing. The breeze was so awesome and made the entire vacation very comfortable and enjoyable. We would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a beachfront home.

We had a really nice weekend at the Ocean Breeze. The house was nicely decorated and neat as a pin. It had plenty of room and was bright and cheerful.

This property was very nice and clean. Plenty of room for our whole extended family. Great location! The ice maker did not work and no one ever came to fix it, and the trash was never picked up. The beds are old and uncomfortable. We did enjoy our stay. Everything else was great!

Our family had a great time at the beach. The seaweed situation was a bummer, and slowed down our swim time a bit. Location was great - steps from the sand. And the bedroom / sleeping accommodations were great for our large group.

This is a charming little house with enough rooms and bathrooms for the whole family. We could tell it had seen some hard times through Hurricane Ike, but the owners were showing it some love with some updates. It had some problems though - the upstairs A/C had a pretty bad freon leak. The managers immediately called the repairman, who came out late on a Friday night. It cooled off, but was warming up again by the end of the weekend. However, the gulf breeze was awesome off the balcony! So nice to see the sun rise. We would definitely stay here again.

The 12 members of our extended family had a fun-filled weekend in your beach house. One room off the kitchen/living area was perfect for the new baby's parents. Two bedrooms upstairs were quiet for other couples, one with a preschooler and the king bedroom was good for the grandparents. Two teens shared the twin/bunks room. We had plenty of space but would have appreciated more chairs in the living/dining area. House is directly over the dunes from the beach where we spent many happy hours. From the deck we could easily watch the beach action. One annoyance we found was inadequate curtains to shut out the early morning (or naptime) sun in three bedrooms. One bed had a less than comfortable bed but the others were fine. The kitchen was equipped well for cooking meals for 11 people but we were disappointed that the grill downstairs was unusable. A plus was the washer/dryer! It was nice to go home with washed beach towels rather than sandy ones. All in all a good house for our family's weekend

The house is front row on the beach and has 5 good sized bedrooms and a large living area, most rooms have ceiling fans and new flat screen TVs. Good new stove, microwave, washer, dryer, dishwasher, and refrigerator. Lots of indoor games and beach toys. Plenty of utensils and pots and pans, could use a toaster and more dishes, coffee mugs, and wine glasses for a place that sleeps 12 (but we use mostly disposable paper and plastic dishes and cups anyway at the beach). The house worked fine for us, but has some drawbacks. 1.The deck is narrow and completely covered by a roof -- no good for sunbathing, especially since there were only 7 straight-backed plastic chairs and NO loungers. 2.Although the dining table seats 8, it had only 5 chairs. 3.There was NO table in the seating area, so we brought in end tables from the bedrooms. 4.The kitchen is quite narrow. 5.The staircase to upstairs is very narrow and tightly curved. 6.One bedroom was missing blinds on one window. 7.There is very little storage area in some bedrooms. 8.The floor was gritty when we got there, so I bought Swiffer pads (mop was already there) and mopped. Of course it got gritty again every day, so I Swiffered regularly. 9.Several light bulbs were out. 10.There are no outside electric outlets. 11.The CD player did not work well. 12. Most beds were OK, one was terrible.

We stayed at this house June 6-10 - needed a place to host all the guest coming in for my daughter's graduation. The house is out on the west end of the island, so it is a little far out but we loved the location and the house is beachfront. When we got to the house, there was garbage all around the outside. I called the rental office and they promptly sent someone out to remove it. Still, I wondered why the garbage was there given a the house had obviously been cleaned before we got there (bathrooms, clean sheets and towels, etc.) Later that night, we saw rats on the bottom porch. I left a message for the rental office and the next morning an exterminator was there. He put poison out outside and another man treated the inside. After that we did see a roach in the house and continued seeing the rodents, but they were on the beach in the rugged terrain and not on the porch. Not sure how much can be done about that, but it was a little disturbing. But the rental company was great about repsonding immediately to our concerns, and I really appreciated that.

That said, the house was in pretty good shape. The kitchen was stocked with all the pots and pans and utensils we needed to cook. The five bedrooms were very nice and the beds comfortable. It was a relaxing home to spend a long weekend in and I would reccomend the home.
